Busy, busy, busy

I miss that old mood avatar where there were piles of paperwork surrounding you...

First up, no I am not yet dead. *ducks the shovel* Been busy saving a ton of docs from a website on the off-chance they delete some of my favorites. Which took a good portion of over a month. Why a month? How about a good round of more than 10,000 HTML-format files in your folder? My left pinky was all but screaming every night I stopped to hit the sack, and I don't think both of my wrists were happy either. Now that's done, I can get back to at least my normal schedule, especially things I owe and some of my own projects. (Except for the few stragglers.)

Second is San Diego Comic-Con 2012. I'm a bit surprised that they're holding it in the middle of July instead of near the tail-end. The upside is slightly cooler weather at this point in San Diego compared to near the end of the month, even if we're right next to the Pacific. What's to anticipate? Usual coverage of Hasbro, Transformers, and IDW. I'm going to posting the majority of photos over at the Allspark's Facebook, so hop on over there to see what I saw each day. My own stuff will probably be here, if/when I find the time and if I'm not too exhausted (had to talk to my managers to get these three days off, so I had to make up for them months earlier, but I'm back to work on Monday). Bright side this year is being able to bunk at miraibaby's place, who was kind enough to let me make a mess of her room. (Kid, I kid. ), so I won't be as spoon-tender cooked from the daily commute like two years past (sweet Guanyin, that was a HORRIBLE experience).

Third? LIVE-ACTION RUROUNI KENSHIN MOVIE!!! What makes me so happy about it? Satou Takeru (Eastern-naming order), who played the titular Kamen Rider Den-O, will be playing as Himura Kenshin! From the clueless "Oro?" of the rurouni, to the deeper bitch of a cranky Battousai, he's SPOT ON. Also interesting is Kikkawa Kouji, who plays Udoh Jin-e in the film, was also a fellow Rider, as Kamen Rider Skull from Kamen Rider W (AKA Kamen Rider Double - it's a Japanese-language quirk). Which amounts to Den-O vs Skull jokes. For a look at how a real-life Kenshin and crew would be, check out the official RK movie YouTube Channel! (Mind that it's all Japanese, except the first trailer that has English subs that leave a bit to desire for.) Which leads to me fussing around my RK collection like crazy, having not touched it fully in more than 10 years. Downside, no clue on international release. BUT, since Warner Bros. is producing it, there's some hope that it'll see theaters outside Japan. *knocks on wood* If not, I'm going have to wait till December or next year to pick up the DVD/BD/Director's Cut/what-have-you-super-special-edition. If one must know of my anime roots, I was exposed to anime and manga courtesy of my cousins (brother and sister) during my elementary school years, namely Dragonball and Sailor Moon, respectively. Gateway series, like for any US-based fan, but the one series that truly captivated me and still held my heart was Rurouni Kenshin, even more than 10 years later (not to mention my wallet). Sure, it's been in the back of my head and I've slipped from the fandom during my college days, but it never really left. Meeting the creator, Watuski Nobuhiro, at Anime Expo 2002 was practically the highlight of my anime fan days (I had JUST finished my Japanese RK manga collection).

Fourth, fic writing CONTINUES to elude me. Yes, that annoying block is still there, mocking me. I already have a couple ideas floating in my head, but they're refusing to come into words properly, so the only thing I can do is just play around with them in my head, or what few paragraphs that I'm able to spit out. Been stuck back into lurking mode, much to my chagrin. One of these days, writer's block. One of these days...
